How MedCode protects your privacy

Last updated: March 2026

Introduction

Coastal Labs Studio LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), a California limited liability company, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use MedCode, our resuscitation timer mobile application (the "App").

By using MedCode, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Our Core Privacy Commitment

MedCode does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information on our servers. There is no account creation, no login, and no cloud sync. All data generated in the App — including event logs, timers, and code histories — is stored exclusively on your device and is never sent to us.

Information We Do Not Collect

MedCode does not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
  • Patient data or protected health information (PHI)
  • Event logs, resuscitation timelines, or clinical notes
  • Location data
  • Contact information

Information That May Be Collected

Purchase and Payment Data

When you purchase MedCode, your payment is processed through Apple's App Store and managed via RevenueCat, our payment infrastructure partner. We receive only a non-identifiable purchase receipt confirmation to validate your access. We do not receive or store your payment card details, Apple ID, or billing information.

RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase analytics to help us manage in-app purchases. For more information, see RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Crash Reports and Diagnostics

If you have enabled Apple's automatic crash reporting on your device, Apple may share anonymized crash logs with us through App Store Connect. These logs contain technical information about app failures (e.g., error type, iOS version, device model) and do not include any personal information or event log data from within the App.

Analytics (Future)

We may in the future integrate optional, anonymized analytics (such as Firebase Analytics) to help us understand how features are used and improve the App. If added, this will be disclosed in an updated version of this Privacy Policy, and no personally identifiable information or clinical data will be included.

Local Data Storage

All data you create within MedCode — including resuscitation event logs, timer histories, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure on-device storage. This data:

  • Is never transmitted to Coastal Labs Studio LLC servers
  • Is not accessible to us at any time
  • Will be deleted if you delete the App from your device
  • May be included in your device's local backups (e.g., iCloud backup or iTunes backup) according to your device settings — this is outside our control

You are solely responsible for managing and securing the data stored on your device.

HIPAA Notice

MedCode is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. Because MedCode does not collect, transmit, or store patient data on our servers, we are not subject to HIPAA obligations with respect to data you enter into the App. However, if you use MedCode in a clinical setting, you are responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with your institution's policies and applicable regulations, including any HIPAA obligations that apply to you.

Third-Party Services

MedCode integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple App Store: Handles app distribution and payment processing. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat: Manages purchase validation and entitlements. Processes anonymized purchase data. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

We do not share any personal information with these services beyond what is technically required to validate your purchase.

Your Rights and Choices

Because we do not collect personal information, there is no personal data held by us for you to access, export, or request deletion of. All App data resides on your device and is fully under your control.

To delete all MedCode data, simply delete the App from your device.

Children's Privacy

MedCode is intended for healthcare professionals and medical students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

California Privacy Rights

Coastal Labs Studio LLC is a California company. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information.

Because MedCode does not collect personal information, these rights have limited applicability. We do not sell personal information. If you have questions about your California privacy rights, contact us at privacy@coastallabs.io.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we add new features or third-party integrations. We will notify you of changes by:

  • Posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date
  • Providing in-app notifications for significant changes where feasible

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
